HOLIDAYS around the world
The last I checked there were about 195 countries in the world, and many or most of those countries have more than one culture in that country. This means there are thousands of cultures in the world and that adds up to tens of thousands of holidays!
So, it's going to take a long, long time to really do a good job on this section. But, I've got a start. Some presentations are below.

Chinese holidays
I'm not sure, but I think Wikipedia has done a pretty good job of summarizing Chinese holidays. Their list, including dates can be found at:

Hinduism
Valmiki, a contemporary of Rama, composes the Ramayana.
Hinduism is the major religion in India. It's so old nobody really has any idea how old it is. But, it's definately one of the world's biggest and most colorful religions. A list of their holidays this year can be found at:

Judaism

Judaism is the oldest of the monotheistic religions. It is also the national religion of Israel.

Buddhism
Buddhism was born in India. They have many, many holidays! The Laba Festival/Congee Festival is celebrated in China on the 8th day of the 12th lunar month and is the day the Buddha attained enlightenment. People usually eat Laba congee, which is made of mixed grains and fruits.

Daoism
Daoism is a uniquely Chinese philosophy/religion founded by Lao Zi.

Druidism
Ancient Pre-Christian religion of Northwestern Europe. Not much is known about them as they were widely persecuted through most of European history. Thier holidays were the Spring and Autumn Equinox and well as the Winter and Summer Solstices. Their beliefs may have been somewhat similar to the modern Wiccan philosophies The oldest records of them date to about 200 BCE.

Christianity
Christianity is a major world religion primarily practiced in Europe, the U.S. and South America, though Christians can be found in virtually every country of the world.
There are many different sects of Christians including Catholics, Lutherans, Protestants, Mormons, Presbyterians, Evangelicals, Baptists, and so on. A list of thier holidays can be found at:

ISLAM
This is "Allah" in Arabic and means "God."
Islam appears to the most modern of the major religions and was the last the great monotheistic religions. It is practiced mainly in the Arabian penninsula, North Africa, and South East Asia though Muslims also can be found world-wide.
